Supporting the holistic well-being of our community’s youth.
In 2023, Village of Empowerment (VOE) achieved significant milestones in its ongoing
mission to support the holistic well-being of our community’s youth. One standout
accomplishment was the collaborative effort with The Village United Methodist Church
and Children on the Mend to host a “Back to School” Community Fair. This event served
as a cornerstone of support for families gearing up for the academic year ahead.
Partnering with The Village United Methodist Church and Children on the Mend, VOE
organized a vibrant and engaging “Back to School” Community Fair. This initiative aimed
to equip children and families with essential resources to start the school year on the
right foot. At the fair, attendees had access to a range of services, including free health
screenings and immunization shots, ensuring that children were physically prepared for
the academic challenges ahead.

The 2022 Summer meals program served an estimated 450 meals along with our
community and educational partners, Desoto Artist Lab, Crafting with Ms. Pryor,
Safety First, Poison Control Center, and the Perot Museum.
2021 News & Accomplishments
Building on its commitment to serving
the community
Building on its commitment to serving the community, VOE continued its impactful work
in 2021. Through the VOE Summer Food Program, over 2200 meals were provided to
youth ages 0 to 18, ensuring that children and teens had access to nutritious meals
during the summer months.
Additionally, VOE extended its support to local education initiatives by providing
classroom supplies and furniture to a local church, further enhancing learning
environments for students in the community.
2020 News & Accomplishments
Supporting the community amidst the challenges
of COVID-19
In 2020, Village of Empowerment (VOE) made significant strides in its mission to support the
community amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Partnering with the Dallas
County Health and Human Services Department and Catholic Charities, VOE organized a Health
and Community fair, offering essential screenings, health services, and distributing over 200
meal boxes to families in need. This collaborative effort provided vital support to vulnerable
members of the community during a time of unprecedented hardship.
